Hi Kelly, I have secured The Elf on the Shelf. Repeat, I have the elf! After reading about how other bloggers have been getting their kids to behave using the elf, I decided to get one for the twins. Plus, it sounds like a fun Christmas tradition.
The Elf on the Shelf was created by a mom as a way to explain to her kids how Santa knew if they are being naughty or nice. The elf appears after Thanksgiving and sits on a shelf "watching." He "returns" to the North Pole each night to give a behavior report to Santa, re-appearing in a different place in the house each morning. Part of the fun is the search to find the elf in his new position.
A special apology goes out to my friend Deb for trying to convince her for ten minutes over the phone today that she was an idiot for not being able to find the elf site using google when it was really my bad because I kept insisting it was elf in the box, which possibly is some kind of indication of naughty thoughts on my part.
On an unrelated note, I was notified by Erin's teacher that she is being tested for the gifted program in kindergarten. I mention this only because it finally explains why I have never been able to out-fox her on any level. It also probably means that she might not be out-foxed by the elf either.
