Kelly, I liked your input, and those interesting tall mugs you posted, but I had to go with my resident artist on this one.
I showed my five-year-old painter the mug choices and she picked the Red Monster right away. She is a great little artist and had to know how someone could have drawn such an interesting design on a coffee mug. I found myself trying to describe the process of pottery and lost her about the time I said the word "kiln".
My mug arrived within two days of my order, accompanied by a personal note from the owners and artists of Lollipop Pottery, Jessica and Tyson. They had even drawn a monster on the cardboard box the mug was packed in. These touches really made the mug more special for me and is a classy way to run a business.
When "the artist also known as Erin" got up this morning, as usual she got out her art set and started drawing. She presented me with this little guy. The upside down eye has had me thinking about the meaning of this piece for a long time this morning - just like all great art.
