Hi. Kelly and I love the day our Domino magazine arrives each month. I'm posting about it this month because she's still in class. My Vogue came too. Dear Anna Wintour, my mailbox pulled away from the side of my house because the September Vogue weighs 85 pounds. Please send a check.
The Domino cover really got me this month. "A Color Revolution!" I have a serious case of beige-itis around my house even though I love vibrant colors. It seems I'm always playing it a little safe because if I get something with color or a pattern my husband always says the same thing. Nothing for about ten seconds, then "It's a little wild, isn't it?"
I've decided that since I clean it and look at it all day, my home should offer a little more visual stimulation and inspiration for those times I'm spinning around in the office chair with writer's block. Yeah. I'm staging a little revolution here.
The section Paint + Fabric Palette on page 68 got me all excited with those peacock hues. I'm all hopped up on robin's egg blue and turquoise right now thanks to certain people around the Interweb. I also starting reading Everything Turquoise in which today I saw the post on the Nina sofa, which is beautiful, but in which I also saw the Frances rattan coffee table of my dreams in 40 colors, at a wonderful shopping site Maine Cottage.
I also love, love, loved the sofa in the Peacock Hues section because they showed a great couch in an ikat fabric even my husband might like because it's a pattern, but certainly not too girly for him.
We need another desk and I think a vanity can sometimes make a great desk. The vanity and stool section on page 53 was lovely. What really caught my eye was the red hand-limed ducduc vanity. I've seen this around the web a lot lately, but alas, too expensive for me.
And getting back to rattan, on page 48 were some nice wicker things for indoors. That inspired me because I found the greatest rattan chair abandoned on the side of the road a few months ago.
I haven't worked on it yet, but I think it has a very nice shape and is just begging for a robin's egg blue re-do. My husband is dubious. He tried to kill it by leaving it outside the garage one night and the sprinklers got it.
Pay no attention to the mildew or that piece that fell off underneath. It's gonna rock!
